Nursing Assistant Course

Nirdhar Foundation Pune

The Nursing Assistant Project aims to strengthen the healthcare sector by preparing a skilled panel of nursing assistants to serve in hospitals and healthcare centers, especially in areas facing staff shortages. This initiative fills the gap between the growing healthcare demand and the lack of trained support staff while creating valuable employment opportunities for unemployed youth.

The course duration is six months—including two months of theoretical instruction and four months of practical, on-the-job training (OJT). Trainees receive comprehensive learning on basic nursing concepts, patient care, hygiene, and hospital procedures under expert supervision.

Training Methodology

The training combines classroom lectures, demonstrations, and modern teaching tools like PowerPoint presentations and audio-visual materials. Group discussions and Q&A sessions encourage active participation and deeper understanding.

During the two-month hospital internship, students gain real-world exposure under experienced medical professionals. Efforts are underway to provide stipends to trainees during their OJT period.

Curriculum Features

  1. Understanding the functions and responsibilities of a nursing assistant.
  2. Learning the importance of role identification and essential field skills.
  3. Developing communication and interpersonal skills for hospital settings.
  4. Training in handling and cleaning medical equipment and maintaining hygiene standards.

Upon course completion, Nirdhar Foundation assists graduates in securing local employment opportunities in hospitals, clinics, and home-care services, ensuring career continuity and community contribution.
